Tension between Clemson and UNC is an under appreciated ACC tradition. Rick Barnes and Dean Smith nearly came to blows in their day. We’re pretty sure that Smith knew that Tates Locke was cheating wildly and didn’t appreciate it. And now you can add Brad Brownell and Roy Williams.
We don’t know what was said yet although there are Tweets suggesting that Kennedy Meeks yelled at the UNC bench.
Whatever it was continues a fine tradition as did a tight game in Littlejohn.
Clemson had plenty of chances. The Tigers had a seven point lead and mounted a fast comeback at the end only to be denied.
Joel Berry had 31, a career high, to lead the Tar Heels.
A win is a win is a win but UNC has some things to work on. The Tar Heels are still erratic and it’s frankly bizarre to think that Berry had to score 31 just to get Carolina to overtime.
There’s still a ton of potential on this team but UNC is nowhere near peak performance. We thought they’d do better after this weekend’s crushing loss to Georgia Tech.
Here’s a shift: Wake Forest struggled in the first half and surged in the second to beat Boston College 79-66.
Variety is always a good thing isn’t it?
After his star turn vs. Syracuse Ty Bowman was limited to 3-15 for just 14 points.
Trend continued: John Collins had four fouls in 25 minutes. And BC hit just 21 shots...but 14 of them were assisted. We love the way this team can pass.
All of Wednesday’s games are interesting: Syracuse could really use a win but Miami won’t be a pushover.
Both Virginia Tech and State are playing very well. Something has to give. Louisville and Notre Dame will be very intense.
And Kevin Stallings will get his introduction to the Virginia Strangler defense. Good thing he has a solid offense to challenge the ‘Hoos with.
Fun night.
