The N&O takes a quick look at Duke’s football class. The paper points out that Duke has no one from North Carolina, and we know David Cutcliffe has emphasized recruiting at home.
However, Duke continues to recruit well in SEC country, signing at least 12 players from Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee.
Duke signed other players from Ohio, Illinois, Massachusetts and Maryland.
It’s an interesting shift.
Pre-Cutcliffe, Duke recruited nationally because it really had to search hard for football players who were willing to accept losing for a great degree.
No longer losing, but still offering a great education, Duke has more appeal and is finding players in states where football is religion.
