Barry Jacobs had a very fine column about Grayson Allen which we linked to Monday. It was a rare thoughtful look at the situation Allen and Duke are in.
Well, here’s another good one, this time from CBSSports by Bill Reiter, who takes the media to task for how it has treated Allen.
It’s well worth your time.
He makes a point we made the other day but makes it better: why is it that Allen is reviled so broadly but Oregon’s Dillon Brooks can kick someone in the balls and barely even make the news?
As Jeff Capel said, this is uncharted territory. He might have added that it’s occasionally shameful too. Allen is solely responsible for his own actions but what possible explanation is there for people who are ostensibly mature smearing a young man they - at best - barely know?
