NC State’s game notes point out that only Pitt gets more points per outing this season than the Wolfpack’s top three scorers – Dennis Smith Jr., Terry Henderson and Torin Dorn.
This naturally caused us to wonder how that compared to other groups in other seasons. We took a look back to the start of the century, limited our purview to the best pair of scorers on the same ACC squad, and found Pitt’s Michael Young and James Artis offer the second-best offensive production of any duo since at least 2000.
The best scoring pair over those years was Duke’s J.J. Redick and Shelden Williams. The All-Americans had 45.6 points per game in 2006.
Of the twosomes that led the league in scoring over the past 18 seasons, half were Blue Devils.
