The ACC schedule is out and Rick Pitino was the first we saw to complain.

Pitino’s concern: his team has three quick turnarounds. None of the coaches like those games. They’re bound to be tough.

What’s he complaining about?

Josh Pastner hasn’t coached a day in the ACC and Tech is basically starting from zero. So what does the ACC give him to start conference play?

UNC at home, Duke on the road and back home for Louisville - and 0-3.

As for our favorite team, Duke, well, the ACC is always tough. Nothing new there.

Duke has home-and-homes with Wake Forest, Florida State, Miami and, as always, UNC.

As far as road games go, Duke will visit Virginia Tech (never easy), Louisville, Notre Dame, Virginia and Syracuse

Now that’s a tough path.

But the one-off home games aren’t as bad: Georgia Tech and Pitt, with new coaches, BC, still recovering, Clemson and NC State.

As far as quick turnarounds go, Duke has a tough haul from Winston-Salem on January 28th at 3:00 pm to a matchup at Notre Dame on the 30th - at 7:00 pm and go from playing UNC on February 9th at 8:00 pm to playing Clemson on the 11th at 1:00 pm.

That’s a classic trap game.

We’ve talked previously about the non-conference part of the schedule. Duke has some mediocre games in Cameron but also plays Kansas, Penn State and either Cincinnati or Rhode Island in the Hall of Fame Tip-off.

Duke also plays Florida in the Jimmy V Classic and will tangle with Vegas in Vegas.

But the non-conference highlight in Cameron is Michigan State in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge. Duke usually wins when these two play, but it’s always a good game and the Spartans have some tremendous talent this year.
