Here’s some good news from football: Quarterback Thomas Sirk, who blew out his (other) Achilles tendon in February, says he’s feeling really good and is practicing pain free: “It’s been great,” he told the N&O’s Chip Alexander. “Starting out the first day, I just wanted to go out there and see how things felt. We had our second practice (Tuesday) night and I felt like I got better from the first practice to the second practice, and that’s what I’m asking for every day.”

Given the potential that he’s shown, a healthy Sirk is a big deal for Duke.
