Everyone loves a short basketball player. It's just one of the minor ironies of the game. Basketball is ruled by giants and always has been - Mikan, Russell, Chamberlain, Jabbar, O' Neal.
Even guys like Michael Jordan are far taller than most people. LeBron James is an average (for the NBA anyway) 6-9, but he's built like a brick...wall.
So it's always fun to see a little guy figure out how to play in the trees. And now Miami has one.
The Hurricanes won a commitment Sunday from 5-7 Chris Lykes out of Washington's Gonzaga Prep. If he's any good he'll be a fan favorite around the league, and he was good in high school: 22 ppg, 4.3 apg, 3.7 rpg - very nice for a 5-7 guy - and 2.7 spg. He also shot very well from deep - 47.3%.
He was also pursued by Notre Dame, State and Virginia among others.
