Reports out of California say that Johnny Dawkins has been fired by Stanford.

Dawkins, who was a legendary player at Duke and also a Mike Krzyzewski assistant, won at Stanford (141-100) but not enough.

A member of his circle told us once that they hadn't realized how difficult recruiting at Stanford would be, a point Mike Montgomery made on occasion while mocking Duke.

Dawkins has shown that he's a talented coach. We hope that he gets another chance to show just how good he is.
