At 7-5, with a historically bad loss to St. John’s to chew on heading towards ACC play, Syracuse has a chance to work on some things against Cornell Tuesday night.

Cornell is just 3-8 and there’s nothing to suggest that this team can take Syracuse - except for a lack of confidence among the Orangemen.

Syracuse has really struggled lately. We’d be shocked if the Orange lost to Cornell, but stranger things (Wagner) have happened.

So we’ll reserve judgement.

Assuming Syracuse wins, the Orange will next host Boston College in its ACC opener. We’d certainly expect them to beat BC, but Boston College is showing some signs of life. We’ve said this is a well-coached team since Jim Christian showed up. The Eagles just don’t have enough talent to compete night in and night out.

ACC play starts on Wednesday as Wake takes on FSU and Louisville and Virginia tangle.
