One of the more disgusting crimes in recent North Carolina history was when former Carolina Panther Rae Carruth had the mother of his unborn child killed so he could avoid child support.
Needless to say things didn't go as planned. Cherica Adams managed to call the police and identified Carruth as her likely killer before she died.
He probably didn't understand it, but that brave act was somewhat typical of her remarkable family.
Carruth was sentenced to prison and has nearly served his time. He surely didn’t count on his son living and that his formidable grandmother still has plans for Carruth.
Chancellor Lee Adams has not had an easy life. He’s nearly 17 and suffers from cerebral palsy and brain damage, after affects of his mother’s murder.
His grandmother, a devout woman, has forgiven Carruth for killing her daughter and crippling his own son. That in itself is remarkable.
What amazes us most though is her strength and how much she has given to her grandchild.
That and his own character.
When Carruth gets out of prison in 2018, she plans to be at the gates with his son.
This really is an incredible story. We are in awe of Saundra Adams and her wonderful grandson. Hollywood, are you listening?
