We’re very sorry to start the week with some sad news but former Blue Devil Dave Golden has died. We don’t know the specific cause but he passed away at home in Parlin, New Jersey.
Golden was at Duke from 1966-69 when freshmen weren't eligible for the varsity. A 6-0 guard, Golden averaged 9.1 ppg for his Duke career and topped out at 13.1 as a junior. He was a captain as a senior.
More importantly, he was a good man who will be missed by many, most of all his family.
Golden’s grew up in Pekin Illinois, and his team won a surprise state title in 1964, defeating the Cobden Appleknockers. As of 2014, he was still the #5 scorer all time at Pekin.
