On Tuesday, god help us, Clemson has a chance to solidify second place in the ACC and to push Virginia into 11th.

Anyone who predicted that in the pre-season that Clemson would be in second and Virginia 10th, possibly 11th, please contact the front office. We'd like to discuss investment strategies.

For that matter, it's amazing that Virginia Tech is tied for third. Both teams are doing remarkable things.

As for State, the Pack is struggling to be sure, but Mark Gottfried has said his team isn't that far away and he's probably right. By the logic of this season so far, State should win by, say, 30-40 points.

Well, maybe not. But at this point, nothing would surprise us. Pitt's expecting a tough game.

By the way, a lot of people have forgotten but State's Maverick Rowan originally committed to Pitt. We're guessing the fans there remember somehow.

Needless to say, like every other ACC team except maybe UNC, Clemson's margin for error this season is not big and the Tigers aren't doing what they're doing by chance.

So don't expect Clemson to take Virginia's struggles lightly.
