Virginia broke its two-game skid Wednesday, beating Miami at home 66-58, but Tony Bennett wasn't particularly happy, least of all with his defense: "To be honest, we never took control. We took a step in the right direction in terms of our physicality, our mindset and our patience, but we have a lot of work to do."

Mike Tobey said that "[w]e were happy to just get the win, but when Coach came into the locker room he was definitely intense about the defensive end. He just said that we played poorly defensively, especially with [Miami’s] guards. We all knew that, but yeah, he was definitely upset about how we played defense."

That was the only game on Tuesday. Wednesday gets busy with BC at Syracuse, Wake at Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech at Notre Dame and Florida State at NC State.

BC, Syracuse, FSU and NC State are all winless.

Virginia's not the only team struggling on defense: the Irish have problems as well, as does Florida State.
