Tuesday's Results
  • State 81 Georgia Tech 49
  • NC State 66 Clemson 61

Both wins were on the road.

UNC's win was so emphatic that Ol' Roy Williams changed his plans and got Theo Pinson in the game.

Pinson has sat out since January 21st with a broken foot.

UNC was helped by an early injury to Tech's only reliable offensive performer, Marcus Georges-Hunt, just minutes into the game.  Quinton Stevens also sat out (abdomen) and Josh Heath played sick.

Still, it was a huge game and provides UNC fuel for the Duke game.

UNC hit 53.1%, led by Joel Berry with 15 and Justin Jackson with 13.

Small note: UNC hit 6-18 from three point range, and only one was by Marcus Paige.
Meanwhile, State came out of Clemson's Tiger Pit with a win, which isn't the easiest thing in the world to do.

And State won by playing better defense than Clemson.

State kept Clemson without a basket for almost 15 minutes in the second half, which is hugely impressive.

State shot just 37%, but that's a lot better than Clemson's 29.9%. Beejay Anya had seven rebounds and four blocks in just 19 minutes.

It'll be interesting to see if the bitter rivals can each maintain momentum from these big wins.

On Wednesday, four games on tap: Miami tackles Pitt, Wake visits Duke and Notre Dame and Louisville tangle.
