Virginia had a very slow start at Syracuse but fortunately the Cavaliers have a highly reliable defense and were able to come back despite hitting just one basket in the first 13 minutes of the game.

Syracuse is not a particularly gifted offensive team though and a 13-2 lead didn't last long once Virginia got going.

It was Senior Day for Rakeem Christmas and Trevor Cooney.

Christmas finished with 10 points, Cooney with 14.

In another note, at least for the Virginia game freshman Kaleb Joseph lost his starting point guard spot. Jim Boeheim opted to move Michael Gbinije over instead.

For Virginia, it meant clinching the ACC regular season for the second straight year and probably cements a #1 seed in the NCAA tournament.

Boston College won the nightcap which makes it two straight for the Eagles.

Dmitri Batten had 18 to lead the Eagles. BC shot 63% in the first half, which tends to make life easier. For the game the Eagles hit 52.4% to Virginia Tech's 38.9%.

Adam Smith had 22 points to lead the Hokies.

Afterwards, Buzz Williams said his team played with no energy.

Notre Dame and Louisville play on Wednesday. It might escape a lot of ACC fans, but these two teams had a history prior to joining. Mike Brey sounds eager to resume the series.

On Tuesday, UNC plays at Georgia Tech and State gets another chance to drive Wolfpack fans crazy with a trip to Clemson.

Tigertown is never an easy place to play and this bunch of felines are growing more confident as the season goes on.

As for UNC, Georgia Tech hasn't gone far off script all season. We expect the Yellowjackets will be tough but ultimately come up short.
