NCAA Tournament 2015: Duke And Utah Coach, Having Lots In Common, Find A Bond

Needless to say, that won't stop them from trying to crush the other's team.

A Utah surrender organized by coach Larry Krystkowiak? Probably not.

Yesterday we spotted the obvious and predicted a lot of Polish jokes this week between Coach K and Utah's Larry Krystkowiak.

First one spotted!

Okay, it was from February when Utah's Coach K (he does use that) called into Krzyzewski's radio show and Coach K (the original) commented on the six consonants that begin Krystkowiak's surname, suggesting that he must be Polish royalty.

Well not really: his father was sent to a German work camp for two years before emigrating to the U.S., a nightmare that most of us can't even begin to imagine.

Needless to say, like Duke's version, Utah's Coach K has seen some stuff and heard about more from his parents and not surprisingly, the two have bonded.

As Utah prepares, the focus is necessarily on Jahlil Okafor. Krystkowiak: "How do we simulate him? It's difficult. Jakob, J.O. and Big Lebowski [Bachynski] did their best impersonation of him today. But it's 6-11, 280 that handles a basketball like a tennis ball if you've been watching games."
