Conventional wisdom is just that - conventional. We all fall into a lazy thought pattern at times and a lot of people are doing that after Duke's loss to Kentucky.

What are we on about? The suggestion that Duke doesn't have a point guard.
Duke has a point guard, by the name of Derryck Thornton, and he's a pretty good one, as you can see here and here and a pretty good former Duke point guard weighs in here.
We were quickly struck by Thornton's talent and nothing has changed our opinion. He runs like a dream, like he's purring along in third gear when everyone else is straining for second. He's a very talented player.
Thornton has a couple of things to overcome though.
First, he was supposed to be a senior in high school. He's good enough to make the jump, but it's a big jump. It'll just take a while.
That's compounded by the fact that he had to finish high school work over the summer and got to Durham later than the other freshmen and thus didn't get as incorporated into the system as he would have otherwise.
It's only a question of time. Thornton is a gifted and natural point guard. We expect he's working closely with Jon Scheyer and Coach K, both former point guards, and will emerge soon as a reliable starter.
