Marshall Plumlee Commits To Military Service

It's not a typical path for an athlete, but young Plumlee clearly likes the idea of being part of something bigger than himself. Which is saying something.

This isn't something we've seen from a Duke player before, probably not since the Korean War or possibly World War II. We're not even sure that it's a very Plumlee sort of thing to do.

Nonetheless, Marshall Plumlee has chosen to join the army via ROTC.

We're pretty sure he's the first K product from Duke to join the service.

Marshall's looking at an eight year hitch, although he can serve it in the reserves.

As for the rest of us, we can just appreciate the fact that there are people willing to take on the rough work of guarding a nation. It's a remarkable thing Plumlee has chosen to do and we hope Cameron thanks him.
