After a long and strange coaching search, the College of Charleston has named Clemson assistant Earl Grant its new head coach. Grant has been at Clemson under Brad Brownell; he also served under Gregg Marshall at Wichita.

He has a reputation as an excellent recruiter and given his background, he's bound to have learned lots about defense. Obviously he knows the Carolinas and Georgia well as a native and a recruiter.

It's an interesting and promising hire. We'll be curious to see how he does.
