It's possible to have a good team without a solid point guard - Duke uses a system Coach K calls conveyance when the Blue Devils lack a natural point and it's worked reasonably well - but every great team has one.

Clemson has secured their point guard of the future now that 6-1 Ty Hudson has committed to Brad Brownell's Tigers.
Hudson, from Mableton Georgia, is from Clemson's traditional recruiting territory (basically South Carolina, Georgia, Eastern North Carolina and to an extent Alabama).
Generally ranked as a four-star recruit, Hudson picked Clemson over Virginia Tech, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Auburn and others.
Speaking of Clemson, we lost track of Adonis Filer when he left the Tigers. He's landed at Dunk City (most likely formerly Dunk City now) along with former Georgia Tech guard Solomon Poole.
