K Off To St. Louis For A Visit With Jayson Tatum & Family

Tatum's dad is a prominent high school coach so the basketball conversations should be erudite.

As you may remember, Tatum has deep roots: his father played at St. Louis and Tatum has spoken before of possibly being That Guy Who Didn't Leave.

Of course it's a compelling narrative either way. Chris Carrawell was That Guy Who Did Leave, and things worked out pretty well for him after he departed the Gateway to the West to come East to Duke and Durham.

That's a pretty cool nickname all in all, and Durham is of course the Bull City.

But some N.C. cities kind of picked up stupid nicknames. Check it out:

  • Brevard: Home of the white squirrels
  • Carrboro: Paris of the Piedmont (huh?)
  • Erwin: Denim Capital of the World
  • Asheville: San Francisco of the South
