We're not sure about this, but the last player we can remember UCLA getting from North Carolina was Henry Bibby. That's not to say the Bruins can't get Ingram; how would we know? It just doesn't happen very often.
Kansas of course, and quite famously, hired Danny Manning's dad to lure young Manning to Lawrence. More recently, Kentucky got John Wall out of Raleigh, although in that case, if we remember correctly, UNC declined to get involved.
It's harder to defend home turf now than it used to be, but it's never been easy. Georgia lured Dominique Wilkins out of Washington, NC (small trivia we never knew: the Human Highlight Reel was born in Paris). Maryland got John Lucas and Buck Williams out of Durham and Rocky Mount respectively, not to mention Chris Wilcox more recently.
It's impossible to know someone's motivation, who he listens to or any of that stuff. Whatever he decides though, we hope that he becomes an ACC player. Preferably at Duke, but definitely the ACC.
