Champs Again!

Duke lacrosse has risen from the ashes of the lacrosse hoax to take over the sport.

Duke beat Notre Dame in the lacrosse championship Monday, setting up an ACC rivalry which should be enduring.

Duke was up 8-2 in the third before the Irish rallied, cutting the lead to just 10-9 with just :49 seconds left in the game.

But Duke's Jordan Wolf scored a goal with just under :30 seconds left to put it out of reach.

Duke thus wins two consecutive titles and becomes the dominant program nationally. It's a long way from the wreckage inflicted on the program a few years ago by the lacrosse mess.

Much of the credit goes to coach John Danowski, who is a superb coach obviously but is also, as we recall, a licensed counselor, which is a handy thing for a coach to be.
