The fan base, which has made national news for the last year or so, may complicate the search. Coaches pay attention to that sort of thing, obviously, which is part of the reason why State had trouble replacing Herb Sendek: who needs it? UCLA has had similar problems.

Someone will take the job though, and the search begins now.

Immediate question: what will Shelton Mitchell do? The highly regarded point guard has been a Wake commit for a long time, but he has a lot of uncertainty now.
