With former Duke assistant Chris Collins in Year II at Northwestern, it's time to take a look at how he's doing.

So far, so good: admittedly it's not a killer schedule, but the Wildcats are 4-0 with an overtime win against Elon.

Star recruit Vic Law is averaging 7.7 ppg, 7.0 rpg and three assists.

And junior Tre Demps has hit clutch shots to win the last two games. That's a nice habit to cultivate.

Overall, the talent is better, but there's still a lot of work to do. Collins is asking heavy minutes of three freshmen and a sophomore. Having a soft schedule is what people typically do when you are overhauling a program and it's working out well so far.

We'll see more soon when Northwestern takes on Georgia Tech on December 3rd as part of the ACC-Big Ten Challenge, and then Butler on the 6th, but from here, it looks like the heavy work is starting.
