Maryland Will Have Money, But No Hope To Compete In Big Ten Football

There's no question that Maryland will make a lot of money as a Big Ten team, but as the Post's Jason Reid points out, the program might as well forget about any meaningful football success for awhile. Aside from Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State, their soon-to-be division mates, they have to deal with inferior facilities including no indoor practice facility. That means the Terps can't practice in bad weather. Their Midwestern cohorts have long since figured this out; Maryland may not be able to afford an upgrade for a while.

So in other words, enjoy the money! But it can't buy everything, and the losing will just get worse.

Basketball might have better luck, but even there, there are no guarantees. The Terps are off to the islands soon for some summer ball, practice and bonding.
