Whatever else you can say about Mark Gottfried, and he has had cheerleaders and detractors, the man has certainly shown that he can recruit.
He had that knack at Alabama too, where among others, he recruited star guard Rodney Steele.
At State, one of Gottfried's prime recruits is Anthony "Cat" Barber, a talented guard from Alan Iverson's old stomping grounds of Hampton, Virginia. Barber has the potential to be a tremendous guard. He says it's a virtual certainty he'll pull heavy minutes (he's right) and seems, if not necessarily ready (it's hard to be ready for the jump in talent from high school to college) then at least sanguine.
