A Kentucky professor named Richard Smith has written a book called 'The Joy Of Pain', which is basically about Schadenfreude and used Duke-Kentucky as part of it: "Smith has conducted research on the topic, examining the emotions felt by dedicated UK basketball fans when something bad happens to the Duke basketball team, such as the loss of a game."
After 20+ years! You have to hand it to Kentucky fans for their...whatever it is.
