That's Danny Ferry, Shane Battier, Greg Paulus, Bobby Hurley, Wojo, JJ Redick and Christian Laettner.
It comes with the territory for Duke, so most of us are used to it. We would like to say, though, that it's a bit of a surprise that Dahntay Jones isn't on the list. We appreciated his game at Duke and loved his passion and energy, but we could see how he could get under someone's skin if they pulled for a different team (one word: pushups).
Any way you look at it though it's remarkable: according to these guys, a full third (slightly more actually) of the most hated players of all time have been at Duke during the last 22 years.
That leaves out a lot of guys, most recently Marshall Henderson, but also people like Dwayne Schintzius, Chris Herren, the players in point shaving scandals at Northwestern and Auburn, various women beaters, dead beat dads, drug dealers, pistol whippers and in at least one case, a murderer.
It's perverse respect, but respect nonetheless.
