Although Steve Spurrier is on record as favoring paying players, his in-state rival, Clemson's Dabbo Swinney is dead set against it.
Swinney told the Charleston Post-Courier that "I went to school on student loans and (federal) Pell Grants (for students in financial need). When I got out of college, I owed $32,000, and I got put on scholarship (eventually). So Iâm against professionalizing college athletics. We have that â thatâs called the NFL, arena league, CFL.
"To me, college athletics are a privilege."
The logic seemed kind of twisted, but at least he's on record.
