Our sympathies to our Chapel Hill and Orange County friends, who just got pelted with rain Sunday night. Five inches is about a month's worth of rain around here; Chapel Hill got it all in one night. Not surprisingly, places like Granville Towers got flooded as did much of Franklin Street. A number of people were displaced.
It's not an epic disaster - it's fairly confined and not that many people were affected. But for those who are, it's a rough week coming up. All of our best wishes to everyone who was affected. One hopes things will get back to normal soon.
Surely coincidence but interesting timing: the flood came with the new chancellor and just hours before ACC expansion. Interesting way to start a job.
