Looks like Davidson is about to make the rumored move to the A-10: the announcement will come Wednesday.
To us, it's very sad to think of the Southern Conference without Davidson, but we understand the desire to move up, and the SC is also losing Charleston (CAA) and ASU and Georgia Southern (Sun Belt).
That leaves Elon, Western Carolina, Samford, Chattanooga, UNCG, Wofford, Citadel and Furman. That's not much competition for Davidson.
And there's no question that the Wildcats can compete. In recent years, they've either beat or nearly beaten the likes of Duke, Kansas, UCLA, Marquette and other imposing programs. Bob McKillop is every bit the coach that Brad Stevens is, or Shaka Smart or anyone else in that league.
Of course it also sets up a keen conference rivalry with Charlotte as well.
