Ohio State president Gordon Gee has really put his foot in it this time. Check out the variety of insults he aimed at Catholics, Notre Dame, Louisville and the SEC:
- "The fathers are holy on Sunday, and they're holy hell on the rest of the week...You just can't trust those damn Catholics on a Thursday or a Friday, and so, literally, I can say that."
- ["The Big Ten wants to] make certain that we have institutions of like-minded academic integrity. So you won't see us adding Louisville."
- "You tell the SEC when they can learn to read and write, then they can figure out what we're doing."
- "No one admires Jim Delaney more than I do -- I chaired the committee that brought him here. Jim is very aggressive, and we need to make certain he keeps his hands out of our pockets while we support him."
What the hell?
Notre Dame tried to join the Big Ten back in the 20's but was kept out by a level of anti-Catholicism which left a permanent bad taste. Hard to blame them, given his idiotic comments.
This adds to previous insults Poles, nuns and various others. He could lose his job over this. Fortunately, there may be an opening at Rutgers soon enough, so it might work out fairly well. They've been hiring a lot of clowns lately anyway.
