A Press Conference Curiosity

When Coach K mentioned in his Thursday press conference that USA Basketball would be moving soon, it kind of caught our ear and we wondered....

To be clear, we don't have one single clue about the plans. It could end up in Guam for all we know.  So don't misunderstand this...

What would it be like if the organization moved to North Carolina? It wouldn't shock us if Coach K liked that idea and it's bound to have occurred to him at some point, whether he thought it was a good idea or not.

It would be a nice fit for the Triangle, but we could also see it in Wilmington, or Asheville or Charlotte or any other number of places.

Why not? This state has basketball infrastructure from top to bottom. You can start with high school events from Dave Telep's entreprenurial efforts to the Holiday tournament in Raleigh, go on to the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions. You can go on to the NC Pro-Am, then look at the legendary college basketball and finally the recently rechristened Bobcats/Hornets.

People would be very welcoming and there are a lot of reasons the organization might be interested too.

It was set to move to Glendale, which is presumably close to Jerry Colangelo lives. Why not near K?
