With Virginia's 66-60 loss to Georgia Tech, the young Cavs surrender second place to Duke and fall to a third-place tie with UNC. Of course the tiebreaker goes to UVa.

But the loss is bound to hurt.
Virginia had a nine-point lead at the half but couldn't maintain it. Like a lot of teams in the ACC, they are pretty young and the road is daunting in this league. The Cavs were just 8-28 (28%) and that won't get it done very often.
Although Virginia is clearly improving and dangerous, their losses won't help their cause. They might get a bit of a break on the Colonial losses (Mason, Delaware and ODU) because they had a tough time with injuries early. Their ACC losses though are to Wake, Clemson and Georgia Tech. It's not exactly top of the charts material.
In Raleigh, Tyler Lewis is taking some satisfaction out of proving that he can play "at this level." Anyone needs minutes to produce. The kid has some real potential. He's fun to watch.
