After deciding to leave Duke, Alex Murphy has opted to transfer to Florida where his brother recently played. He's also asking for a waiver so that he can play immediately. That would give Florida two new highly talented players in January, something you don't see that often. Aside from Murphy, 6-10 Chris Walker has also joined the team.
Both players obviously are frontcourt players, which may restrict Murphy's minutes a bit if he does get immediate eligibility. They won't have the same roles, but there are only so many minutes to go around, as Murphy learned in Durham. That'd be unfortunate since he's presumably transferring for playing time. Here's hoping he finds all he wants.
