State's First Hall Of Fame Class Impressive

If you buy something from an SB Nation link, Vox Media may earn a commission. See our ethics statement.

Sometimes, given the neighbors, State can get overshadowed. There's no denying the brilliance of the Wolfpack athletic tradition though, and the first NCSU Athletics Hall of Fame class bears that out.

You can start with David Thompson and give him a wing of his own. Then you have Roman Gabriel, Ted Brown, Jim Richter, Julie Shea, Jim Valvano, Everett Case and Kay Yow, among others.

When you leave guys like Tommy Burleson, Monte Towe, Kenny Carr and Phillip Rivers off the list, you're doing pretty well.
