Turns out State just missed on a guy who could have really helped them this year: Sam McLaurin, formerly of Coastal Carolina, who is eligible immediately as a fifth-year graduate transfer.
He chose Illinois, however, but said of State: "I was really thinking hard about SMU and coach Larry Brown. I like the development aspect at Drake, then I was really considering NC State. It was the ACC. I was familiar with their league while growing up in the shadows of Florida State. They were all intriguing, but I put everything else aside."
