By Tim Duncan's sophomore year at Wake Forest, it was already clear that he was an unusual player. Who ever dreamed that he'd become what he has become though, that not just a team but an entire basketball culture at San Antonio would grow up around him?
Yet that's exactly what has happened. Duncan, always unselfish and rarely emotional, has no problem letting other people take the credit or, lately, take the lead.
With the Spurs up 2-0 on the young Thunder, Duncan & co. have the inside track on a return trip to the Finals. Now an old man by basketball standards, Duncan plans to play at least a season or two more, so the time to define his legacy is not yet here. Rest assured though that when that time comes, he'll be put on a level with the very best the game has to offer.
