The goal of the Emily K Center is to make a difference in the lives of young people in Durham. Hard though it is to believe, the first class of the Scholars to College program are about to receive their diplomas. It's great for them, great for Durham, and great for the vision behind the Emily K Center. We're sure the grads and their parents are proud, but the rest of us should be too. It's a small class with a big vision and it's also a part of Durham's vision of transforming itself into something very different. Mike Krzyzewski has been a big part of expanding that vision.
As lucky as Duke was to get Coach K back in 1980, Durham was just as fortunate.
