Joe Alleva Finds His Man

When he was at Duke, Joe Alleva had a mixed record when it came to hiring people. He did hire Joanne P. McCallie, and that worked out pretty well, but his football hires were wretchedly bad and there was a bit of a mess about a baseball coach he hired, whose name we can't remember.

On the other hand, John Danowski was a great hire in more ways than one.

Still, a lot of people had questions about that aspect of his job at A.D. at Duke, and the way Trent Johnson's LSU career played out underscored that again.

So what about his latest hire, Johnny Jones?

As far as we can tell, he seems like a great fit. Winning at North Texas can't be easy and he's done that consistently, racking up five straight 20-win seasons and two tournament berths.

Just as importantly, he's a guy who loves LSU and has long considered it his dream job.
