Tournament time is also firing time, and it's started: Chris Lowry, just 39, is out at SIU. He had a spectacular start but has fallen off lately. Still, he's an excellent coach and should pop up somewhere.
We'd think that would be true for Jim Baron, fired at Rhode Island. He gave Duke a memorable game in Cameron but never quite turned Rhode Island around. Our impression of him is that he's a good man. We hope he lands somewhere soon.
We expect Bruce Weber will be fired soon: the Illini have lost 11 of their last 13 and his brittle nature has been revealed again.
However, the folks at SIU still think highly of him and his old job may well be waiting when he gets the word from his A.D.
