We kind of let this go, but the more we thought about it, the more it bugged us: Rep. Brad Miller recently said this: "I have said very publicly that if Duke was playing against the Taliban, then I'd have to pull for the Taliban."
This is a variant of the old "if UNC (or Duke) were playing the Russians, I'd pull for the Russians."
The difference, of course, and what has really gotten under our skin, is that U.S. soldiers are in daily combat with the Taliban. That a U.S. representative would think this is funny, or even appropriate, stinks.
Being a brave politician, Miller said this after deciding not to seek re-election.
