Something truly shameful happened Friday night: some idiot, or idiots, vandalized Duke Gardens.
Why?
What possible reason could there have been to do something so utterly stupid and heinous? The university provides the gardens, which remember are a memorial, for free to the university and the public at large.
The mind boggles. We hope whoever did this is caught and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
