Turns out that when Virginia Tech brought James Johnson back and gave him his boss's old job that that reinforced a long-standing relationship between the new coach and his star point guard, Erick Green, who says Johnson was the first to really believe in him.

Over in Charlottesville, Tony Bennett, to an extent, is starting over: after several transfers, instead of having a group peaking this year, he's got a much younger team than he expected. But there is some significant talent.
They'll open up against Paul Hewitt's George Mason team, which will be shorthanded as Hewitt suspended Erik Copes and Vaughn Gray for three games.
There's a lot of uncertainty around UNC basketball this season, but we're not buying it. Ol' Roy is a resourceful coach and there's plenty of talent even if a lot of it's young. They'll be okay. Certainly a lot is expected of James Michael McAdoo.
