Larry Drew, Wear Twins Talk About Their Transfers

For the first time that we're aware of, the Wear twins and Larry Drew II are talking about why they left UNC.  Among the reasons: culture shock (i.e., East Coast vs. L.A.), the "UNC experience" didn't meet expectations, there was a breakdown with the coaching staff, and the fans.

Travis Wear said this: "The energy just wasn't there as in the years prior, it seemed like. It just wasn't that fun of a year."

For his part, Drew said that his infamous rap ("They tried to tell me just to play my role, but who's really trying to stick to a script full of typos?") was just "venting."

More critically important than some pretty lame rap is that he and his family felt that Ol' Roy and staff were less than straightforward.  His father, Atlanta Hawks coach Larry Drew (I?) said that when Kendall Marshall took the starting point guard spot that "[n]othing was said to Larry, nothing was said to me. That was a little hard to swallow."

Williams of course disagrees with this.

Anyway, interesting stuff, not least of all about the fans.  One mediocre season and they make their players feel unwelcome.  Remarkable.
