Here's an interesting story on former Villanova star Will Sheridan, who has now publicly confirmed that he is gay. His teammates knew, there were rumors enough for opposing fans to go after him, yet somehow coach Jay Wright never knew. Both use the word "oblivious."
It reminds us a bit, in a different way, of Vic Bubas not understanding that having the team banquet at a segregated country club would hurt C.B. Claiborne immensely. Like Wright, he was oblivious to that.
This is a pretty impressive story. Kudos to Dana O' Neill and also to his former teammates. We're curious, and it doesn't appear that she asked, how Villanova would have reacted institutionally had they known, given the church's stance on homosexuality.
