In Saturday's ACC action, Boston College trumped Virginia 63-44, Florida State to Miami 65-59, Clemson beat Wake Forest 63-49, and State survived Georgia Tech 79-74.
Toss in Virginia Tech's 64-60 win over Duke and that's four teams winning within a two point trough. Only State escaped the 60s.
No great surprise beating Tech of course, but State still had to work hard to get the win.
Still, it has to be good for them to win a game where there was no certain outcome. State had an 11 point lead with 6:23 left, but Georgia Tech and fighting back and got within three points several times.
Scott Wood scored 20 for the Pack. Iman Shumpert racked up 21 points, eight rebounds and seven assists for Georgia Tech, and nobody can criticize the kids effort. He's doing everything he can in a losing cause.
It's been hard lately for Virginia to get over 50 points in a game, and it didn't change against Boston College, where they scored just 44.
Virginia shot just 32.1% to Boston College's 51.1%, and only Assane Sene and Mustapha Farrakhan scored as much as 10 points.
Reggie Jackson scored 25 for BC, and Cory Raji added 17.
Florida State limited Miami to 16 points in the first half and put them in a 20 point hole. The Hurricane did outscore them by 14 in the second half, but obviously that math doesn't work.
They shot worse than Virginia at just 31.7% for the game.
Wake never really had a chance against Clemson, but they really have had a miserable season. Nothing changed on Saturday. Wake Forest is a train wreck and nobody is going to clear the tracks anytime soon.
