In Thursday's ACC action, a minor surprise as State came to life to beat Clemson.

As much as any team in the conference, State has been erratic this season. Coming into this game, they had lost seven of their previous nine, some of them quite badly. And of course they had collapsed against Clemson previously, but that didn't happen this time:
State scored nine straight points near the end and hit 11 of 14 free throws in the last four minutes in what must have been a very satisfying conclusion.
State got a solid game out of all three big men as Tracy Smith scored 14 and grabbed eight boards, while CJ Leslie had 18/10 and Richard Howell had 9/10.
When your starting frontcourt nearly outrebounds the other team by itself they've had a pretty good night.
People are less patient now than they used to be with coaches, but isn't it a bit early to be writing off Steve Donahue? Generally speaking, if a guy can put together a dynamic program at Cornell, he's a solid coach.
In a bit of a hit for Carolina, San Diego's Angelo Chol announced for Arizona. Most big men are already off the market, and there is a chance that either Tyler Zeller or John Henson or both leave after this season.
On the other hand, this also limits the chance of another Californian coming to UNC and then leaving without talking to Ol' Roy first.
No games until Saturday, when BC visits Chapel Hill, Florida State heads to Wake Forest, and in the day's highlight rivalry game, Virginia Tech visits Virginia.
