Miami bagged a big man this week, the second big man from the tip of Florida to commit to an ACC school recently, following Joel James, who will be a Tar Heel.
Miami beat out Clemson for hometowner Tonye Jekiri. He's a 6-11, 230 lb. center originally from Nigeria.
Paul Hewitt, at Larranaga's former school George Mason, was also after him.
Incidentally, it's a long-ish story, but Hakeem Olajuwon is of course the template for Nigerian basketball players, and every big man out of Nigeria instantly draws comparisons. The thing is, State could have had Olajuwon, but Norm Sloan wasn't ready to pull the trigger.
